Broadband Speed Test

Ever wondered what broadband line speed you are really getting? Are you paying for 8Mb, but you think you may actually only be getting 4Mb?
If so, then you can use the free Broadband Speed Test below to find your true broadband speed.
How It Works
Start the test by clicking the big button in the center of the page. The test first starts by downloading a file and measures how long it takes. After the download is finished the speed checker tries to upload a file and measures your upload speed.
If you want to get accurate results then you should not use your internet connection for any other applications once the speed checker is running, and run the test a few times so that an average speed can be calculated.
The broadband speed is measured in Kbps (kilobits per second). Approximately 1000 Kbps is 1Mb/s.

im on o2 pro and i get just under 18Mb yes 17176 Kbps download constant never less than 15Mb (15000 kbps)
and 1.4 Mb upload (1400 kbps)
I got out of BT and it was the best decision i ever made o2 are great with Mcafee and english call centres 10/10
Just completed set-up for a new (8Mbps) contract with Virgin after years of indifferent and overpriced service from madasafish.
Very disappointed to see only 3 Mbps download speed, despite being assured by Virgin and BT that I would get 6-7 Mbps. I’m only 400m from the local digital exchange. Not good….kfm
should of gone with o2 im getting 17-18mb down and around 1.8mb up!!
Not to brag or anything but I think I found a better test…. The above test gives basic speed information but no real info you quality or capability of your connection. My favorite Broadband Speed Test site is http://www.ispgeeks.com.
Click on Broadband Diagnostics then TCP Quality Test and the rest is simple. They also have a true speed test, voip test and a couple of other things.
You get data back like this (testing my connection)
Speed test statistics
———————
Download speed: 7437424 bps
Upload speed: 1646448 bps
Download quality of service: 97 %
Upload quality of service: 95 %

Plus it even gives you graphical data such as this (based on the test above).

I’m with Virgin and I’ve got an average download speed of 1.8mb on an “Up to 10mb” connection. I’m rather disappointed.
