Skype now has 100m 'users' – time for the telcos and messengers to react?

Aqute Research have written an interesting article on whether the traditional telcos and messengers need to start paying more attention to Skype now that it has passed 100M users.
Personally, I think Skype has a long way to go before it can start worrying the traditional telcos. SkypeOut still isn’t popular and I think SkypeIn will also struggle becuase of the lack of any CPE partnerships.
In the UK, VoIP to PSTN services will also be hampered by the relatively high interconnect charges which will make it hard for VoIP operators to significantly undercut traditional telcos.
