Telewest’s TV vision - Video-On-Demand HDTV plans

Telewest today released some quite detailed, and impressive, plans for the future of its TV service. Some highlights:

  • TV on demand to all its one million digital TV customers by early 2006
  • Over 200 current and library titles will be available
  • 160 Gigabyte PVR service in the summer with three tuners, will apparently be HDTV compatible (I think Sky+ is only 120Gb and two tuners so TW will have one-up on Sky here)
  • Analogue switch off by end of 2006, supporting government plans to switch off the national analogue TV signal by 2012.
