I’m beginning to question whether Firefox/Mozilla is really suited to the mass market. Firefox/Mozilla is designed for those users who want to customise their browsing experience – I don’t think the basic user will want to do this.
Also, if they were to do this they would run the risk of making the browser too hard to use and they could also create additional problems – e.g. I’ve just totally messed up one of my PCs by installing a dodgy extension which when I removed totally messed up my settings.
Also, IE does have some trump cards to play with cool features like the Google Toolbar. All sites also work properly on IE, whereas Firefox still has problems with some key sites.
Maybe, Netscape 8.0 will offer the best of both worlds – a “hybrid” browser, allowing users to click between both IE and Firefox. I guess we will just have to wait and see.
