Netcraft launch Firefox anti-phishing toolbar

Netcraft launched earlier this week a Firefox version of its anti-phishing toolbar. The toolbar seeks to thwart threats by blocking access to reported phishing sites. Once the first recipients of a phishing email report the URL of a fake site, the site is blocked for toolbar users.
The Firefox version has been downloaded more than 60,000 times within hours of its release on Tuesday, according to Netcraft Internet Services Developer Paul Mutton. By comparison, the company’s antiphishing toolbar for IE has been downloaded around 100,000 times since its release earlier this year, he said.
Interesting, as I would have expected Firefox users to be more internet savvy and less prone to falling for phishing emails. I guess it’s better to be safe than sorry.
