For its Windows Mobile 5.0 software announced in May, Microsoft plans later this year to offer an upgrade that will provide push email technology and improved security management.
Outlook information, including e-mail, calendar and contacts, will be pushed through a direct connection between Exchange and a Windows Mobile device, providing users with immediate access to Outlook information, without the need for a third-party network relay service like RIM.
This could spell the end of RIM as corporations switch to installing the Microsoft software for security reasons to avoid having their emails sent to their users via a 3rd party and also to avoid the crazy charges that are levied.
