PC Optimisation Tips

Slightly off-topic but I’m posting anyway as I think this post will be useful for a lot of readers. I’ve been playing with the setups of my PCs and I’ve managed to eek out quite a lot more speed. It’s amazing how much faster a PC can get if you can disable the stuff you don’t need in Windows XP. XP after all, is designed to do literally thousands of tasks - the more the you can remove the faster XP will be.

Here are some sites I found with some useful tips.

PLEASE NOTE: If you are not comfortable editing your registry then I would avoid these changes. I accept no responsibility for any problems you may encounter once you change your PC settings!

That's interesting. Im happy to see the success of your blog. I'm playing around right now with a blog I created several months ago regarding DSL speed. http://bandwidthspeedtest.blogspot.com

XP is a powerful operating system, no doubt about that. You can personalize it, custom it in many ways and its response is expectable. A little knowledge and patience and you can make it faster without seeing those awful blue screens.

XP Home is much faster than XP Pro because the oodles of services in XP Pro are missing.

Try it if you’re a speed demon.

(need I mention it trumps Vista in raw speed?)
