Skype Has Revenues Of $6-10 Billion??

CNET reports that some analysts think that Skype has up to $6-10 Billion in revenues.

I think this is absolute nonsense. Skype has been downloaded around 140m times so far. Even if I’m being really bullish and assume that 1% use SkypeOut for all their calls (probably still too high) and that each user generates around $30 in revenue a month then this would only give $0.5 billion. I doubt if Skype are even making that much.

EuroTelcoblog also points out that if CNET’s numbers were corrent then that would make Skype 2-3 times the size of Google!
