Hitwise, a web traffic monitoring company reported that visits to blogs in the UK currently account for almost 1 in 200 visits to all websites, up 130% on the previous year. The UK market is dominated by MSN Spaces and LiveJournal, although myspace is growing fast - up 500% since it debuted in the Hitwise ranks in September 2004.
Although traffic to blogs from the UK is increasing I still haven’t come across anyone in my own circle of contacts who blogs and I have a sneaky suspicion that the increase is coming from people visiting blogs without creating their own blogs. I think blogging is still seen as geeky or no-one wants to admit that they are a ‘blogger’.
I wish there was some way for me to work out from my stats where my visitors are coming from as it’d be interesting to see where my visitors are coming from.
