World of Warcraft: Should I avoid playing it?

The BBC reports that the success of World of Warcraft has helped boost the sales of Vivendi Universal’s games division to $150m. The game from Blizzard has now has two million subscribers in North America, Europe and South Korea, along with an additional 1.5
million in China.
I’ve been resisting playing this game as I’m worried about how much time it might take up if I get addicted. I’ve already decided I’m going to move on from AOK2 (I’m almost a 2K player) to AOK3 when it comes out and to also upgrade my PC at the same time.
Maybe I should get a second game at the same time to ’showcase’ my new PC.
Should I take the plunge?
