Flickr launch ranking service -"interestingness"
Everton | Aug 02, 2005 | Comments
Flickr have just launched an interesting new feature called interestingness, which is a ranking algorithm based on user behaviour around the photos taking into account some obvious things like how many users add the photo to their favourites, how many times it has been viewed and some subtle things like the relationship between the person who uploaded the photo and the people who are commenting.
Quite an interesting concept, and I hope that there are filters included to remove any pornographic, images of children etc.
They’ve also added a gallery which shows the most interesting photo each day. This isn’t available as a feed though which is a shame.
