Have Instant Messenger’s Become Too Complicated And Fluffy?

I found this article via Digg which discusses how with each successive release MSN messenger has added in more and more unnecessary features which has left it looking bloated.

I have to agree as although I like looking at the new features like nudges and winks I never actually use them. The only features I use in my IM are the actual chat service and the file transfer.  This is why I tend to use trillian more as all the features that I don’t use are hidden away and don’t distract me from using the software the way I want to use it.

If MSN launched a lite version or some way to just have a basic view then maybe I would return to the fold.
