I just read a story on the Beeb that some exam results are to be sent as SMS alerts. At first I thought what a bad idea this was – what if the SMS was delayed? What if your mates found a way to spoof the messages and say that you’d failed?
Then I thought, these poor kids will miss out on the excitement of going to their schools and opening the little envelopes with their results. I will never forget the excitement of opening the envelope with my A-level results, once I’d plucked up the courage, and then looking at my mates faces to try and gauge whether they’d got the results they needed as well.Admittedly, I had an inkling my results were good becuase the teacher who handed over my envelope had a knowing
smile, but it was still a nervous moment.
Will these poor Scottish kids get the same thrill from receiving an SMS? Definitely not!!!
