Age of Empires III Preview Review - Launch Date Of Christmas?

Gamespot have been managed to get their hands on a demo version of Age of Empires III. The review is nothing short of glowing and this game looks like it is going to be a major success.As a dedicated AOKer I have a few concerns though:
- I’m not sure if I like the idea of how the experience points for your home city build up the more you lay the game. Surely this will give an advantage online to players who may not be better but have just played the game for longer?
- The PC resource requirements seem to be very high which means I will probably have to upgrade my 3.5 year old PC (probably a good move anyway)
- The new game seems to have so many dimensions that gameplay could become too complicated
There is still no news on an official launch date - I’m guessing though that they have slipped to August given the number of elements that haven’t been completed yet.

I’ve been looking forward to this game for some time myself. Since I’m also a first person shooter fanatic and with the release of the HL2 / CSS / BF2 recently I have already made the upgrade from my 4 year old pc this last christmass and upgraded my video card again last month
Personally I thought AOE2 could have been beefed up a bit on the complexity side, I liked Civilization 2 but that was a little too complex so something in between would be welcomed.

My last upgrade was to play Age of Mythology which was a dud. I hope AOK3 isn't otherwise I'll be wasting a LOT of money.
Did you play AOK2 online? What were your nicks? My main ones were Knight38_binson (Knight clan greatest AOK clan ever), PBS_Warrior, Digital_Toomuch and Pur3_FlaVa.
