Orange Launch Push To Talk Service - Expensive At 15p Per Min?
I just read on TechDigest that Orange have launched Push To Talk, which allows users to make ‘walkie talkie’ calls to other mobile users i.e. your phone only transmits/receives when someone is speaking.I was stunned to see that the service costs 15p per minute. I was expecting something a lot cheaper, particularly as I think the service is free in the US, as given that the phone only transmits data when someone speaks, I was expecting the costs to be based upon data usage not time. I have Agile Messenger installed on my Nokia 6680 which uses Push-To-Talk to talk to Instant Messenger clients, and each message I send is only a few KB costing fractions of pennies each time.
How have Orange come up with 15p/min? Am I missising a trick here?
