I’m in a bit of a quandry about my next phone upgrade. For months I’ve had my heart set on the Nokia N91, but then yesterday Sony launched the p990.
The P990 boosts an impressive spec – 2MP camera, 3G, wi-fi, the latest Symbian O.S 9.1 etc – the same as the N91, so deciding between the two has been hard. However, the moment the N91 is still winning the race for me.
One of the reasons I switched from my P900 to a 6630/6680 was that after a while I started to hate the requirement to use two hands with UIQ. Even if I just wanted to read emails I had to get the stylus out which was annoying – Series 60 phones like the 6630 and 6680 are designed to be used with one hand.
I admit I do miss the bigger screen of the P900, but it looks like the P990′s screen is going to be a lot smaller as they have stolen some space to add the keyboard.
Also, given that the N91 supports 802.11g Vs the p990′s 802.11b, and also has 4GB of onboard storage Vs 80MB on the Sony, I’m going to stick with the Nokia.
