Firewall Recommendation: PC-cillin Internet Security

After singing the praises of Zone Labs latest effort a few months ago, over the last couple of weeks it started causing problems on my machines. Certain processes like vsmon.exe, which I think is the real-time virus scanner, were using up to 100% of my CPU which was grinding my machines to a halt.

I decided to try something else and over the last week or so I’ve been using PC-cillin Internet Security which has been absolutely amazing. Not only does it not hog my system resources, which has significantly improved my bootup and overall system speeds, it has a very simple interface. I particularly like the way it manages network rights and the way it notifies you when a new device connects to your network so you can see if your neighbours are stealing bandwidth or even worse.

If you are upgrading or renewing your internet security I’d recommend checking it out.

Thanks for the suggestion. I just got a new machine and I was getting tired of ZA and Norton Internet security was both too limiting and intrusive. I’m going to try the 30-day eval and see how it goes.
