New Mobile Shopping Service - Reporo

I just received an email asking me to check out a new mobile shopping service called Reporo. I’ve had a quick look and it looks quite good, very similar to a shopping service I wanted to launch in 2002 for Vodafone.Reporo is a Java application that lets users shop on their mobiles – anytime, any place. Reporo is free, easy to use and simple to setup. It is the first mobile shopping service that works across all major mobile networks and is compatible with over 150 handsets, including most recent models.
Users can choose from thousands of products from leading retailers, with new shops being added every week. I was particularly happy to see two of my old partners listed - Figleaves and Firebox who were two of my key partners back in the wild west days of the internet. I distinctly remember the first time I met the founders of Firebox in 1999. They were called hotbox.co.uk back then but swiftly changed their name when they realised they had a very similar url to a very popular porn site! They’d set-up the company with the cash they’d made inventing the first shot-glass chess set.
It’s so good to see some of the old startups from the 90’s still knocking around, and it’s also good to see that people are once again developing new mobile services other than ringtones.
