Nokia Expands N-Series Handset Range - N92, N80 and N71

Sound familar? In the summer Nokia announced the launch of the N-Series range with 3 stonking handsets, and before these have even fully hit the streets, they announce 3 more. As many of my regular readers may know, I’d already earmarked the Nokia N91 as my next phone. I may have to rethink this based on the latest phones. I guess getting a phone is becoming like buying a computer - buy the best you can afford when you need one, rather than waiting for a better model to arrive as there will be always be a better one around the corner. The Nokia N80 pictured above is my personal favourite. Although it doesn’t match the Nokia N91’s 4GB onboard storage, it boasts a 3-megapixel digital camera, email, MP3 player, Personal organizer, game console and WLAN connectivity.

More importantly for me it has a smaller form factor than the N91, but still manages to squeeze in a bigger screen. It achieves this by featuring a pull-out keypad.

The Nokia N92 shown right supports DVB-H broadcasts, and boasts a very impressive screen. Other key features include:

  • Quadband world phone
  • Integrated 2.0 megapixel camera with 4x digital zoom/Integrated VGA camera with 2 x digital zoom
  • Integrated Flash LED (operating range 1,5 m)
  • 90 MB internal memory
  • Bluetooth, IrDA , WLAN and USB 2.0
  • Integrated FM stereo radio

The final handset added to the range is the Nokia N71, which I don’t actually think deserves to be included in the N-Series range as it doesn’t feature any special features. The N71 sports a fairly standard specification for a smartphone - 3G, 2MP camera etc. Nothing special. I think it has been included in the range as it is fairly unique for a Nokia in that it is a flip phone.

Maybe when the Nokia N91 comes out I won’t be able to resist taking the upgrade, but I’m going to try and stay strong and wait for the N80.
