Xbox Live To Support Instant Messaging

According to an interview with the BBC, Microsoft are working on integrating Xbox Live and MSN Messenger so that gamers will be able to IM friends from within Xbox Live, and also so that MSN Messenger users will be able to receive alerts when their friends log onto Xbox Live.

This should also work on mobile phones that support MSN Messenger, although I can’t see how valuable it would be to see who is playing if you are on the move.

If you can’t wait 6 months for this feature to arrive then check out XbList which is available now.

I’m a bit undecided on whether or not I like these services. I’m trying to be quite disciplined about how much time I spend playing on my Xbox360, but potentially having friends pestering me to come and join them could be quite annoying and also hard to resist at the same time. Would you welcome this feature?
