Songbird MP3 Player Beta Coming This Week – Will It Better iTunes?

Songbird are going to launch their beta MP3 player this week, they are just working on the latest set of customisations.

Songbird is based on Firefox and has been created by the team behind Winamp 5 and Y! Music Engine.  I really hope that they live up to their promise of delivering new innovative features.

I, like so many others, have become so used to iTunes that it is going to take something special to make me switch mp3 players.

I guess we will know in a couple of days.

  • Hard to dislodge Itunes . They have massive barriers to entry- considering that its the only software that syncs with the iconic Ipod!

What's qmp? Too lazy and tired to do a search

I see you've never tried qmp. And it knows that they both go in B, too!

Certainly, almost anything would be better than the clunky iTunes.

Its a good thing we finally will have a decent Open Source Media Player.. I love winamp, for its simplicity, never needed any other softwares. But the fact that the new player will be an open source, is just great for the software community.
also, i hope Songbird will be able to kick some a** after some time.

    inkhead,
You've obviosuly never done anything positve before in your life. All you can do is give your opinion which no one gives a damn about. Because throughout your entre life you have been unable to forumulate a unique thought or create anything worthwhile you seek to validate yourself by critiquing the work of others who are trying to do something positive. Give it up already, you are a worthless mass of carbon owned by the system. Enjoy your life of servitude.

I've got an idea, why don't you just put a link on the songbird site to apple's itunes. The whole idea behind this project is stupid. We don't need another mp3 player, especially another piece of crap from the team that doesn't know innovation if it bit them in the ass.
seriously. There will be a new release of "itunes" on january 9th, that becomes "media center" complete with downloadable movies and subscriptions.
iTunes is the only player out there than knows "the beatles" and "beatles" both belong in "B"
Just like the guy said, the "beta" won't have any new features, why bother then? WHY bother at all, i wish you would just quit and go work at mcdonald's or something.

What exactly is a 0.1 release? Given that some services like Gmail have been in 'beta' for yonks, is a "0.1" release what everyone used to call beta in the old days?
Will it be available for download is all I need to know!

And I apologize for the improper use of the apostrophe. I'm really tired right now.
