Vodafone To Launch Its Own Handsets

Vodafone is set to launch its own brand of handsets after signing a five-year deal with China's Huawei Technologies.  I'm surprised that Vodafone hadn't done this already.  I don't think we will be seeing cutting-edge smartphones, but rather good value mass-market phones.

This could have a major impact on the sales of Nokia, Sony Ericsson etc if Vodafone try to dominate the middle of the market.

VodafonePresident is run by my countryman. I'm headquartered in USA. He's headquartered in England. He tried to acquire AT&T wireless. He was outmaneured by Cingular. As a matter of Fact Cingular was not the highest bidder. Voadfone was. Then, at the close of the bidding, Cingular asked AT$T to accept Vodafone's slightly higher bidding. Cingular did. Vodafone protested. But to no avail.
Now vodafone has come up with the hanset thing.; It is a desperation move if you ask me. What is so new about this handset. Nokia, Motrola have been fiddling with mobile devices to gain upper hand. But have failed miserably in that their revenues have not shown any spectacular gain on a year to year basis.
The only way they can show any spectacular gain is by redevelopment of technology as advocated by me at my site New Era wisp so that the mobile phone cold be used to do all the things PC is now used to do. Although the mobile phones can now do some o9f the things PC's do that is nor what I'm advocating. What I'm advocating is that the function of Pc's including mobile phone would be reduced to that of sending communications only to the servers. That is when these handsets would come alive.
