Google Links Footballer Ashley Cole with the word 'Gay'
Arsenal footballer Ashley Cole’s solicitor has demanded to know why Google are linking
his client with the word ‘gay’ in their internet search results. If you type ‘Ashley Cole’ into Google, the service brings up the option ‘See results for: Ashley Cole gay.’
Ashley Cole is upset about this as he is currently suing the News Of The World newspaper for pictures that it ran about footballers who engaged in gay orgies. Although, the NOTW didn’t name names, Ashley claims that the images used in the article were quite clearly of him, and he is suing the paper for libel.
I really don’t see how Ashely Cole can be upset with Google. If gay stories about Ashley Cole are accounting for the majority of searches currently on his name then Google are right to make it easier for other users to find related links.
