Eliminate iTunes Duplicate MP3s

Another problem I ended up with when I moved my iTunes mp3 collection between PCs was a lot of duplicate files.  To fix the problem I discovered this great little app that can find and delete dupes automatically.

Dupe Eliminator from Markelsoft isn't free, but it does have a 30 day free trial which should be long enough to clean your iTunes library.  It has some cool features including:

-List all files in iTunes Music Library
-Can show only duplicate podcasts (based on your criteria selection)
-Can show only dupes (based on your criteria selection)
-Can show only dead links (library links to files that no longer exist)
-Remove actual file option (remove actual file in addition to music library entry)
-Sync iPod with iTunes Music Library.  Useful after removing duplicates

    There is a much better software for removing duplicates and dead records.

    Try Duplicate Finder this is also very good tool to find and eliminate true duplicate files.

    You can find and delete duplicate files including mp3s, Advance marking system lets you select files by date, size, and several other criteria. Duplicate files can be deleted, moved, or copied.

    I found this utility didn’t find all the dupes that iTunes did and was somewhat unreliable. Besides these things, anytime you do seemingly anything dupe eliminator wants to rescan your library. I have a 19k+ song library. Slow, slow, slow…
