Will ntl Bid For Premiership Rights?

Now that natl and Telewest have completed their merger will they bid for Premiership rights, going head to head with Sky?  First round of bidding on the Premier League rights is due on April 27th and the Premier League has outlined 6 packages. Packages A, B and E are the most attractive as they offer fixed start times for games, whereas D might be attractive for a terrestrial broadcaster due to variable start times.

Sky will probably aim to obtain the maximum five packages by bidding for all 6 packages.  One analyst has predicted that ntl will bid for three packages, given that on a recent conference call ntl hinted that content acquisition was a priority for the company.  If ntl, or Virgin TV as they will be called soon, want to really want to take on Sky then they need muscle in on Sky's control of content.
