A Mobile Phone Is Stolen Every 12 Seconds In The UK

Apparently in the UK, things have got so bad that a mobile phone is stolen every 12 seconds. A staggering two million phones were stolen worth £390m.
I can’t imagine what it would be like to be mugged. I thought I grew up in a rough area (I’m from Nottingham originally which is now known as the ‘gun capital’ of England), but even at my school I can only remember one kid getting mugged in town outside the local cinema.
This evening as I was catching the bus home after work today there was a schoolgirl sitting opposite me, listening to her iPod and fiddling with a decent phone at the same time. I couldn’t help thinking what an easy target she would make. I mentally noted that if I ever had kids they could have an iPod, but they would they would have to use a pair of crappy black headphones so that they wouldn’t stand out!
