Video: New Xbox Media Center (XBMC) Skin - MC360

Whilst I was getting my Telewest TVDrive repaired last week I gave the engineer a quick demo of Xbox Media Center and I downloaded and installed the latest version to show him how easy it was to setup.

I was surprised to see that in the latest T3CH build was a new skin that uses all of the features of the upcoming 2.0 release of XBMC. Media Center 360 or MC360 is based upon the Xbox 360 skin, and will be part of the T3CH’s XBMC 2.0 build when it becomes available.

I think they’ve done a very good job and it looks very sexy. Check out the video and judge for yourself:

Key new features include:

* Actual 100% Blade slide animations reproductions
* Xbox.com Gamertag Display
* Customizable interface, themes, backgrounds, userimages & Gamercard
* Fully animated backgrounds, buttons and effects
* Has userfriendly control over all settings, no need to edit XML’s
* Supports PAL/NTSC, Widescreen, 720p and 1080i.*
* Comprehensive Game Saves Manager Built into the Game Section
* Quicktime Movie Trailers built into the script, no need to update
* Small Download Size

If you’ve got an old Xbox lying around you should really look into installing XBMC. Even if you don’t you can buy one on eBay for £60. XBMC is the best media player money can buy at the moment. Where else can you get a device that will stream files from the internet and off PCs, as well as upscaling DVDs for under £100 if you include the price of a chip? Just buying A DVD that upscales will cost over £200 alone.
