If you really want to get your hands on a Playstation 3 then don’t think you’ll be able to walk into your local store at the weekend. Major shortages are expected, and they’ll probably be worse than when the Xbox 360 came out. The only way to guarantee getting a allocation is to Preorder now! Or, you could try eBay if you want to be ripped off – when the Xbox 360 came out some were changing hands on eBay for up to $2500.
Lots of merchants will offer pre-orders, but I would recommend sticking to one of the big guys like Amazon as they will have the biggest allocation, which will increase your chances of getting a PS3. Another safe bet would be Play.com.
