Permanently Remove Incriminating Personal Information From The Web
Following on from my post earlier about being careful about what you say on the web, there now appears to be an answer. ReputationDefender claim to be able to remove any incriminating information about you that has made its way onto the Internet:
We scour the Internet to dig up every possible piece of information [...]
Be Careful What You Say Online. It Could Cost You Your Job
Lied on your last job application? Well, you might get caught out now. According to a recent survey by CareerBuilder.com, one in four managers now ‘Google’ potential employees and 51% of applications were rejected because of what was found.
The survey found that:
31% of candidates had lied about their qualifications
25% had poor communication skills
24% [...]
Who Reads My Blog?
I discovered SEOpedia yesterday and it looks like quite an interesting blog. Christian just did an interesting post trying to find out who reads his blog, and I’ve decided to do the same. I get between 1-8K visitors per day depending on who you ask, but I only know a handful of you – Martin, [...]
Why Dont More Internet Users Use Usenet?
I’m constantly amazed that more internet users don’t use Usenet. I’ve worked for various ISPs in the UK for the last 7 years and Usenet traffic is still dwarfed by P2P. I’ve been using Usenet/Newsgroups now for about 3 years. Admittedly, when I first started using Usenet I found the whole space [...]
What’s The Best Way To Get Wordpress Stats?
I’ve been having a discussion over the last day or so with Martin from gHacks about our relative traffic stats. About 6 months ago we had the same level of traffic, but gHacks has definitely moved onto another level since then thanks to Martin’s hard work, whereas Connected Internet has suffered from a bit of [...]
How To Make All Your MP3s Play At The Same Volume
I found this great article on how to make all your mp3s play at the same volume via Digg. I’ve tried using MP3Gain in the past, but I had problems. I think I ran into problems because I used the beta AAC convertor which was silly given that I only have around 200 [...]
Thief Posts Mugging on YouTube And Gets Himself Arrested
I’m convinced that most thieves are stupid, rather than that the police are good at catching people. Consider this village idiot from Wrexham, Wales. He got his mate to film him mugging a charity worker, and then stupidly posted the video on YouTube. No surprises what happened next….yep, he got arrested.
The video has [...]
Watch Free Football Online – The Easy Way
Quickie post. If you want to watch free football online, including the English Premier League then download SopCast. It’s much easier to use than other applications such as PPlive, thanks to instructions in English.
Update: A full guide to using SopCast can be found here.
Once you’ve installed the client then bookmark this site which has [...]
5 New Cool Plugins
I decided it was time to give the old blog some new functionality. I was going to implement a new theme, but couldn’t find one I liked (or one where I was comfortable tweaking!). So, I went on a plugin hunt to try and freshen up the old site. Here are [...]
Why Can’t iTunes Add Album Artwork Properly?
We Recommend! FixTunes To Organise and Fix Your Music Automatically!
I was just listening to my music collection via XBMC and I noticed that despite my significant efforts to keep my iTunes mp3 collection nicely ordered, a lot of my new albums were ‘missing’ album artwork.
At first I couldn’t work out why as I always ensure [...]
Hauppauge Nova-T 500 MCE TV Card Has Amazing Picture Quality
I’ve recently left ntl:Telewest and sometime soon I’m going to lose my free Digital TV service, so I had a quick look at the latest offers from ntl:Telewest and Sky to see who was offering the best deal.
I was on the verge of plumping for ntl:Telewest because it was cheaper, even though Sky has a [...]
Best UK VoIP Service – Voipfone
I’ve been using Voipfone now for a few weeks based on a recommendation I got in a meeting from some execs from Siemens. Voipfone offer a wide range of additional services including SIP-based hardware so that calls can be made from ordinary handsets, without a PC needing to be on all the time. Several free [...]
I Hate Full RSS Feeds
They’re like Marmite – you either love them or hate them. Well, I definitely hate full RSS feeds as for me they defeat the whole point of RSS. I use a RSS reader primarily to help me track the large number of websites that I follow quickly. But the other reason [...]
Installing Vista RC2 As My Main OS Was Definitely A Bad Idea
My decision to install Windows Vista RC2 as my main OS last week was a very bad idea. Yes, I know I should have known better but I thought it was time to force myself to give Vista a real tryout.
The installation of Vista itself went almost without a hitch. The only problem [...]
Installing Vista RC2 As My Main System – Bad Idea?
I’ve decided to go for it and install Vista RC2 as my main system. I’ve backed up XP and imaged my HDD using Acronis True Image, so that I can restore my XP build in 20 mins if it all goes horribly wrong.
Wish me luck!
What XP Did For Us
I toyed last night with installing Microsoft Vista RC1 or RC2 as my main operating system, given that the trial licence period would see me through until Vista is officially available to the general public. As I dithered over the decision, it made me realise how attached I’d become to Windows XP over the [...]
What Pocket PC Apps Should I Install?
I’ve just recently bought a Dell Axim X51V, which is my first PDA since my old bluetooth IPAQ back in 2002, so it’s safe to say I’m a bit out of touch with the area. So what apps do you recommend I install?
So far I’ve installed the very impressive Skype PocketPC client and [...]
