What Pocket PC Apps Should I Install?

I’ve just recently bought a Dell Axim X51V, which is my first PDA since my old bluetooth IPAQ back in 2002, so it’s safe to say I’m a bit out of touch with the area. So what apps do you recommend I install?

So far I’ve installed the very impressive Skype PocketPC client and I’ve also sold my RoadAngel GPS Speed Camera detector and ordered a TomTom Navigator 6 pack which also includes camera locations.

I’ve also discovered that Orb.com works fantastically on a PDA. If you haven’t tried this service yet, then you should. Orb lets you stream any live TV, photos, music and videos on your home PC to your PDA or any other Web-enabled device e.g your work PC. The quality is amazing and even over a 3G connection (via my Nokia N80) I can watch a movie or video from my home PC.

    Hi,

I have had a Dell Axim v50x for a year and a bit now. Some of the apps that I use the most would be:

SplashID For Pocket PC : store credit card/login deets etc, syncs with your desktop

TCPMP : Great for vid playback of all media i.e. divx/Xvid

Pocket Controller : Allows you to run you PDA from your desktop, sort of like a remote desktop session.

Opera Mobile Browser works well on most sites.

If you are into Gadgets a good website to look at via IE (not Opera) on the PDA is http://www.engadget.com/ website automatically detects that you are using a mobile browser and serves up the mobile version of the site.

I had a quick look at Opera and it didn’t seem to work very well. Google seems to re-purpose sites quite well so I uninstalled.

thanks for the TCPMP tip - I’ll have a look tonight
