Internet Doubles In Size In Just 2 Years, And Now Exceeds 100m Websites

According to a new survey, the Internet has just reached and passed 100m websites.
This year alone an additional 27.4 million sites have appeared on the net, compared to 17m in 2005. 2005’s growth of 17 million.
This means that the internet has doubled in size in just 2 years.

The growth in blogging is driving a lot of the growth. Technorati, is now tracking nearly 60m blogs, with 175,000 new blogs created everyday. Its figures show that the blogging community posts a combined total of more than 1.6 million new entries daily, which are updated around 18 times a second.
I wonder how long it will take for the Internet to hit 200m, or 1 billion sites?
