IS RSS Usage Finally Taking Off Thanks To Firefox 2.0/IE7?

As part of my weekend stat frenzy, I’ve just been looking at how my RSS feed has been performing and I’ve been astounded by how the usage has changed over the last 30 days. My feed usage has grown exponentially over the last month, and the only explanation I can come up with is the launch of Firefox 2.0 and IE7 and their better feed handling capabilities.
My feed is managed by Feedburner, who do a good job of providing decent stats for free. For the average 500 or so people who access my feed everyday, 30 days ago I was getting just over 100 clickthroughs a day or about 1 article per 5 users. Now I’m getting about 1,500 clickthroughs per day or 3 articles per RSS user. You can see my growth first-hand in the chart on the right.
This is such a massive jump in such a short space of time! It’s not because my posts have become more interesting (although I would like to think so!) because the clicks are spread out across a wide range of posts, and it’s not because my feedcount has gone up – in fact my Feedburner feedcount has gone down as my Feedblitz email subscribers are no longer managed by Feedburner.
The only explanation I can come up with is the launch of Firefox 2.0 and IE7, which provide better RSS support and integration. Are other people seeing similar growth in their RSS feed usage?
