What New Gadgets Did You Buy In 2006?

Netgear EVA700I was tidying up some old posts, and I spotted a post I wrote this time last year asking what gadgets were on reader’s shopping lists, and also making my own purchase predictions.

My own predictions proved to be fairly accurate, although I did pick up a few extra bits and bobs I wasn’t expecting. This year I added the following toys to my stable:

  1. Nokia N80
  2. Home AV – Panasonic XR-70 & Tannoy EFX 6.1 speakers
  3. HDTV – I’ve actually purchased 2 – a 42″ Hitachi Plasma for my front room and a 32″ LCD for my bedroom
  4. PC – I built my First PC just under a year ago, which includes some nice watercooling
  5. A Digital Camera – Vivitar Vicicam 8300s
  6. A PDA – Dell Axim X51v. I wasn’t expecting this to happen
  7. A second Xbox/XBMC combo for my bedroom
  8. New Router – I was given a WNR854T Rangemax Wireless-N router by netgear which was nice

I think I’m pretty much tooled up now, so I don’t really have any purchases planned for 2007.

The only ones I think might happen is upgrading my iPod to the next gen when it appears if it offers 100GB+ storage, as I’d like to be able to carry more of my collection with me. I might also get some a set of Netgear’s HD powerline adaptors to replace the 802.11g adaptor on my bedroom Xbox.
The major upgrade I’m hoping I’ll be able to do, is to put something in my front-room that I can use to stream HD content onto my main TV. Hopefully, it’ll be my existing Xbox 360 if they finally manage to hack it if not I’ll probably have to buy a PS3 or a Netgear EVA700.

I will also be upgrading my Nokia N80 at some point as I want something smaller with a better battery. I’m also probably going to have to get a ‘crackberry’ as I think I won’t be able to hold out on getting a Blackberry from work for much longer.

What are you thinking of getting next year?
