Pixelotto Looks Like It’s Going To Be A Failure – Only 16K Pixels Sold Last 7 Days

I’ve just had another look at the Pixelotto site to see how close it was to selling out, and in the last week only 16,000 pixels have been sold raising the prize fund to only $136K.

In a way I’m kind of happy that Pixelotto is failing. I have nothing against Alex Tew and his success with the MillionDollarhomepage, but if someone is going to make a lot of money I want them to work hard for it as it’ll make me feel happier that I’m not a millionaire!

I do feel sorry for lastminute.com though. They clearly decided to get in early with Pixelotto to lock down the ‘hotspot’ right in the middle of the page. However, their brand is now situated right smack in the middle of some questionable sites. If I was them I’d probably pull the ad.

  • Well - it wasn't a failure in the fact that it made him £75k - however, long term it wasn't successful.

  • I represent the unhappy advertisers on Pixelotto. I can tell you that Pixelotto will be an UTTER failure, and already seven people have managed to get a refund (including some of the biggest advertisers!).

  • Alex has about 50 more weeks to fill the rest. And even if he doesn't succeed in filling the whole page, I won't stop clicking. That would be stupid. I'd reduce my chance of actually winning a prize that is now 137.900 dollars.
  • I don't think 16k is a 'steady stream' and it will drop off even more in a week or so when people stop talking about Pixelotto when it becomes old news.

I really don't think they will sell all the pixels for the first draw to take place. I'd stop clicking now if I was you!
  • I don't think Pixelotto is failing, there is a steady flow of new advertisers. It's not booming, but that is not necessary. I don't think there will be a next pixelotto, though. And you are right about al the stupid advertisers with there money making schemes. Serious advertisers aren't interested in promoting their sites next to such kind of sites. That's why I think Alex Tew will fill this one eventually, but there won't be a next. In the meantime, I'm stupid enough to click on ten ads a day :-)
