Europe’s Largest Social Networking Site Passado.com Raises £7m To Fund Expansion

One of Europe’s largest social networking sites, Passado.com, announced today that it had raised 10 million (£6.8 million) as it plans to expand into Britain, Russia and Italy.
I’m really chuffed that the site is going so well as it was setup by one of my friends from University, Aylin Savkan, and also because Passado is proving that sites with a European focus can be succussful as well.
If you haven’t come across Passado yet it is Europe’s largest social networking community with over 4 million members.‚ The site was launched by Aylin and friend in 2001 and it allows users to re-connect with friends from school , university or work.
I hope that Aylin and her team put the money to good use as it’d be great to see more users from the UK register as part of Passado’s expansion. I also hope they also put some of the money towards jazzing up the site design, as at the moment it is very functional rather than looking ‘fun’ in my opinion.
