Arrington Closes TechCrunch UK After Dispute With Editor

I’ve just learnt via 901am that Michael Arrington has temporarily closed TechCrunch UK, following the dispute with editor Sam Sethi.

I can understand Michael Arrington’s frustrations with Sam Sethi posting after he’d agreed to leave or had been fired, as legally he has no right to continue using TechCrunch property.

However, I think Arrington and also Typepad, who Loic Le Meur (the first person who ever explained to me what a blog was before his company got acquired by Six Apart) are handling the situation really badly now.  Putting the popular TechCrunch site on hold and also closing down Sethi’s personal Typebad blog is going to far in my view.

I think this story is going to whip up quite a frenzy in the blogosphere today because of the A-list bloggers involved.  Judging by the number of comments already left on TechCrunch this dispute is going to roll on and on.

ahh, that would explain why the site is on hold as I guess they need to decide whether TechCrunch UK now has a future.

[...] Techcrunch learnt the dangers of this directly when they fired Sam Sethi the editor of Techcrunch UK, who managed to log on and leave a parting shot for Michael Arrington. I don’t think AOL need to worry about Jason doing the same as I’m certain they’ve placed quite stringent legal restrictions on what he can say, but do they need to reign him in a bit more? [...]
