Share This: Nice Minimal Social Networking Plugin

I know I keep saying I’ll stop tweaking my theme, but I think this is half the fun of blogging. I’ve been keeping an eye on Listikal’s site this weekend as he’s just implemented the same base theme as me. Listikal has just installed Alex King’s new social networking plugin, Share-This and I’ve decided to copy him.
I’ve never been convinced by the benefits of plugins like Sociable that add hundreds of social networking icons to pages to encourage users to bookmark pages. On a day-2-day basis I don’t get a lot of traffic from these sites, although when I have made it onto their homepages the additional traffic has been spectacular.
The Share This plugin I think balances the fact that I don’t want to totally give up on getting onto the homepage of a big traffic driver, without making my pages look cluttered and messy with lots of icons. All of the top sites are available as well as a email option, all within a nice clean popup.
Installing the plugin was very easy with nothing to configure other than activating it. Placement can be customised, but in many cases you won’t need to.
