Using StumbleUpon To Drive Site Traffic

Ajay, who’s site I discovered via MyBlogLog community has written up a brief guide to StumbleUpon. If you haven’t come across StumbleUpon, it’s a site that displays a random site to its users based upon what other viewers liked or rated.

I’m not quite sure how StumbleUpon calculates what sites to display, but Ajay has some tips on how to increase the chances of your site being included. One such tip is to build up a network of friends, so that if your pages have a bigger chance of being StumbledUpon.

I occasionally use the service, so use this link if you want to add me to your friends list.

  • So do you ;)
  • Ah... now I get it. Everton uses a number as his username.
  • Currently the url being linked to is the usernumber and not the username like in yours and my case.
  • Ajay: What do you mean ?
  • It has something to do with the URL he posted above
  • I just added you a buddy on StumbleUpon and then tried to contact you, but mysteriously it gave me this URL http://.stumbleupon.com/contact/

Which returned a 404 error. SU must be working on something new
  • I've added that to my list of things to do this week. Prob, is I'll be near the bottom of the list now I think unless the target blocks see my date stamp and put me near the top - doubt it.

At least I'll get more links back to me, and authors will see it.

    Sigh
  • That is true.

Well no crying about spilt milk, unless you want to go in and edit your posts to send the pingbacks
  • cool.

I dread to think how much traffic I've lost over the last 6 months because 'No Ping Wait' was stopping my trackbacks and pingbacks.......It's got to be a lot of potential readers, particularly site owners.....
  • Received it now and approved :)
