Disgruntled Pixelotto Advertisers Take Action
It appears that Alex Tew of Milliondollarhomepage fame isn’t having everything his own way this time around with Pixelotto. Despite generating a lot of coverage when it launched 3 weeks ago, only $143,900 has been sold out of a potential $2m, and $140K of this was in the first week.
Now there appears to be a concerted campaign by disgruntled advertisers who want their money back, because the traffic they are getting is totally worthless and much lower than they expected because of the failure of Pixelotto. Two key sites have sprung up, Pixelottoreport.com and PixelottoSucks.com.
Pixelottoreport.com is the more interesting of the two. It tracks how many pixels have been sold by Pixelotto by day. Check out the chart below to see how poorly this site is doing:
In the last seven days only 1200 pixels have been sold or $2,400 in sales. I think it is safe to say that Alex won’t be making a million out of Pixelotto.
But it gets worse as some of the advertisers who did buy into Alex’s vision are trying to get their money back, and PixelottoSucks.com are trying to orchestrate a campaign. So far, seven advertisers have been successful.
I guess it proves that there are no quick ways to make money, and I think Alex Tew’s 3rd project is going to have to a lot more credible and substantial if anyone is going to take him seriously.

I knew it right from the start, Pixelotto is a flop. The worthless traffic it generates is good for nothing

Pixelotto may be a dissapointment for many advertisers, but it wasn’t like this was unforseen. How can advertisers get their worth when the price is doubled and the advertising length limited. Many said the pixel advertising theme was a flash in the pan like the pet rock, but there are other sites out there, like http://www.wallaroundtheworld.com, which take pixel advertising and runs in another direction with it. So we shall see what happens. But Tew definitely has competition this time around.

I found another site, but it’s quite different - it doesn’t sell pixels, but rather letters. http://www.lettermatrix.com

What will they come up with next??!!

And now for something completely different!
Galaxy32 are running a Treasure Hunt across a Pixel Page. There are going to be 3 winners, each recieving a flight on a Sub-Orbital space craft (I think with Virgin Galactic). Advertisers can offer their own prizes plus Galaxy32 are putting in the odd spot prizes from iPods to Holidays to the Kennedy Space Center.
Even though it’s another pixel page it’s got a lot to offer!
