MP3tunes Offers Unlimited Storage
I didn’t pay much attention to MP3tunes when they launched as they only offered 1GB of mp3 storage, which was of no use to me and my 111GB music collection. But this week they’ve started offering unlimited free storage to a select number of users, with the new unlimited service being rolled out to existing users over time.
This was enough to entice me into signing up yesterday. Setup was simple and I was able to quickly install a desktop app to sync my files directly with the server, and also a plugin for itunes which would allow me to listen to my online music.
What I really like about the service is that it apparently it displays artwork and it also allows you to sync playlists. I’m not sure if mp3tunes reads the artwork directly from the ID3 tags, or if there needs to be a folder.jpg image in the album folder, but either way I’ll be a happy bunny when I get to use MP3tunes’ streaming service on the road.
I really wish the unlimited service was launched earlier this year, as I splashed out on a Lacie external HDD 6 months ago solely to back up my music as I didn’t want to risk losing all the hard work I’d put into correctly tagging my mp3 files.
I’m waiting now for my upgrade to unlimited storage. Hopefully, someone from MP3tunes will see this post and bump me up the queue!
