The Best Of Connected Internet In 2006
Everton | Jan 02, 2007 | Comments 0
One of the drawbacks of blogs I think are that it is hard to highlight to new readers and subscribers who tend to focus on the latest and newest articles all the good old posts that have been made.
Here’s a review of my favourite or most popular posts from 2006:
January
- More Ways To Speed Up Windows XP – Made the Digg homepage and still one of top 10 pages as a result 12 months later
- Windows Live Messenger Invites Available My most commented post with 118 comments. I have no idea where they all came from but I think I managed to give everyone an invite
- 10 Useful Firefox Extensions That Don’t Glamorised Made the Digg homepage and still one of top 20 pages as a result 12 months later
February
- Sanketh Joins Connected Internet Team
- Because of the level of traffic I was getting over Nov 04-Feb 05, I had enough traffic to attract guest bloggers. This is something I really want to try and do again in 2007 – if you’re interested then drop me a PM in the forum
- Gizmondo Goes Into Liquidation
March
- Google Links Footballer Ashley Cole With The Word ‘Gay’
- Congratulations On The Silver Medal Martin – Now For The Olympics! Very, very proud my little cousin winning a silver medal at the Commonwealth games. He will be one to watch at the 2012 London Olympics!
- Screenshots Of My XBMC Setup My pride and joy in my flat, Had some mates round last night and we were watching movies and playing Ghost Recon until 6:30 this morning lol.
April
- ntl:Telewest Merge With Virgin Mobile – Customers To Be Enticed With Fourplay At the time I worked for one of the cable giants so this was big news for me. Virgin will definitely be one to watch in 2007 once the new company is unveiled
- Olympian Blogger: Wanted Nation To Compete For
May – Very lean month but I discovered Youtube

July
- How To Ask A Girl Out (In A Round About Way) Another lean month but this post is still in my top 10, thanks to lots of kids searching google for ways to ask girls out!
August, September
No posts at all. Between May and November I hardly made any posts, and I’m still paying for it as my traffic completely disappeared. I’ve recouped some of it, but I’m still way behind where I was last year.
October
- The Filter iTunes Plugin: Create Automatic Playlists I love services that allow me to make better use of what I already have, like my massive music collection
- I’ve Ditched My Smartphone And Bought A PDA! Big decision for me as I’ve always been a big supporter of smartphones. I haven’t had time to really see what my PDA can do yet though
- Watch Free Football Online – The Easy Way!
November
- New Theme
- I finally found a theme that I live (TypoXP) and I don’t think I’ll be moving for a long time now, well at least 6 months.
- Best Wordpress Engagement Plugins: Make Users Read More Posts Recommended read
- Microsoft Windows Comes Of Age – Happy 21st Birthday! The start of my site issues as the additional traffic this post got, made me realise my site and server were in a bad shape.
December
- Wordpress Plugins NOT To Install Linked to my site issues. I think the theme for December has been to get my site in good shape to drive and survive the traffic I want to attract in 2007
- Street Firgher: The Later Years Great video series, although Episode 3 was poor I think
- 1,000 Post
- I Discover MyBlogLog I had a bit of a love affair with MyBlogLog in December. I’ve linked to the search results so you can see how many times I wrote about MyBlogLog
- The Dos And Don’ts For Driving Traffic To A New Website I think this is good reading for all bloggers, as I think it will make you stop and think about some of your decisions, even if you don’t agree with my views
