Apple Tells iTunes Users Not To Upgrade To Vista!

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I read that Apple are telling iTunes users not to upgrade to Vista, as Vista isn’t compatible with iTunes. Surely, they mean iTunes isn’t compatible with Vista??!!

iTunes may be a great piece of software, but I think Apple might be misunderstanding the value equation a bit here. My OS is more important to me than any single piece of software. I think Apple are definitely getting too big for their boots here, or are trying to ’spoil’ Vista’s launch any way they can.

I have to admit I’ve had a mare with iTunes since upgrading to Vista. For some reason my library file got totally corrupted and iTunes then decided to move all my files, and for some insane reason also decided to rename them……About 5-10% of my library is now messed up ( that’s about 800-1700 tracks) and the files are all scattered throughout random folders, so I’m having to go through each folder one by one, find the files, work out what album they are actually from and then re-tag them….

Sorry to hear Vista hosed your iTunes. What type of machine did you install it on? I been reading it seems that these Vista problems are mainly on non mainstream machines and mobos.

Could be as I built my own machine. My current spec’s below:

GPU: Sapphire X1900XT (flashed to XTX) 739/819 (can’t overclock with Vista yet)
    Ram: Crucial DDR400 4×1GB @133MHz (3-3-3-5 1T)
Case: Gigabyte Aurora+3xSilenX Ixtrema 120mm LED Fans
Cooling: SwiftTech H20-120Premium watercooling+ GPU block
HDD Cooling: Coolermaster HDD fan unit
Storage: 2×250GB Samsung P120S SATA, 1×400GB Western Digital SATA, 1×500GB WD SATA, 1×200MD Western Digital IDE, 1×250GB External HDD (external HDD doesn’t work with Vista)
    PSU: Seasonic S12-600 PSU
Scard: Soundblaster X-Fi (Not working properly with Vista)
TV Card: Hauppauge Nova-T 500 (Not working with Vista)

Hey Everton..I believe this is a desktop?
How did it cost you? :)
And also…what is the CPU brand..(I think it`s Intel, but which model?)

The CPU is AMD. I started out with a nice reasonably priced high-specced media center PC which cost around £1200 (components are a lot more expensive in the UK). It was the first PC I’d built and I enjoyed making it so much, but before I knew it I was hooked on modding…first a second monitor, then a 3rd HDD, then a new scard, then a new TV card, then more storage, then a new GPU, then new watercooling, more storage, another new TV card, then more ram, then a new mobo…

My external HDD doesn’t work with Vista and it’s a shame I didn’t backup my music before I did added iTunes to Vista. Guess I assumed all would be ok.
