Wow! My Theme Has Been Downloaded Over 1,000 Times In 1 Week!

I finally managed to upload my TypoXP Reloaded theme onto the WordPress Theme Viewer exactly one week ago and already it has been downloaded 1,000 times! It’s even ranked number 2 in the 10 Best Rated Themes, and I think ‘green lantern 3.0′ is only beating me because it’s had 200 more downloads, even though I’ve had more users give my theme 5 stars out of 5.

To be honest I only decided to share my theme once I realised that the main reason why Ajay’s site has a Page Rank of 6 and a technorati rank of 326 is because of the number of themes and plugins he’s released which all have backlinks to his site, either in the footer or within the plugin manager.

I’ve been stuck on PR5 almost since I started blogging as I went straight to 4 within 2 weeks and then to 5 about a month later, so I thought releasing my theme and my Latest Comments With Avatars Plugin (as well as the shoplinc module) might get me those extra links I need for a Page Rank increase.

So far it seems to be working as my Technorati rank is improving by around 1,000 a day (currently 11,220) and hopefully Google will follow suit soon. I’ve already seen a benefit yesterday as my ReviewMe rate factors in my technorati rank, so I got double my usual payment for the iBackup review I wrote.

I can’t take all the credit for my theme as at it’s core is the TypoXP theme, but I’ve done a hell of a lot of work on it over the last 3-4 months. If you have a theme that you’ve done a lot of customisation work on, I would really recommend that you release it as those extra links could become quite valuable. You’ve got nothing to lose as the chances of someone seeing your theme elsewhere is quite slim (and you can always hold features back), and if they do, so what?

Most of the sites using my theme that I’ve seen are relatively new sites, but there are a few PR3-5s out there. Hopefully though, even the smaller sites will stick at blogging and continue to improve their rankings which will continue to benefit me as well.
