How To Remove “On Behalf Of” Messages From Gmail

I’ve been using Gmail for about a year now. I switched initially because I loved the way I could store every email under the sun, and didn’t have to file any apart from adding the occasional label, because of the great search engine. However, where Gmail really came into it’s own was when I started adding my other email accounts which allowed me to manage all of my various email addresses and contacts from one mailbox.

But, I’ve literally just noticed that despite sending all my emails out on the right addresses Gmail appends a ‘on behalf of’ and also my Gmail address to all emails. I’d never seen this before, and I’m sure it’s a new addition. I hate this as sometimes I don’t want people to know my real identity or because I’m sending an email for work and I don’t want to look ‘cheap’ by using Gmail as the backbone.

Does anyone know how to turn this off, or alternatively does anyone know of a webmail service that will allow me to send emails on multiple addresses from the same mailbox? If I can’t find a solution I’ll be forced into going back into managing multiple mailboxes which would be a bummer.

My company - http://www.loapowertools.com - provides a service that lets you send emails on multiple addresses from the same mailbox. For example, see http://www.macosxhints.com/comment.php?mode=view&cid=101057

So I have my university address configured in Gmail as one of my options to send mail from. A few weeks ago I sent an email to one of my professors, and she responded back with a really nasty letter about how I need to send email from my regular university address, because whatever I did tripped her spam filters or whatnot.

    How lame is that?

Yahoo does not do this… this is the achilles heel for gmail. many companies are putting these emails right into the trashbin.

Hmmm… does this also work for the alias domains? og do I have to have a google app for each address? Google should also add the ability for them to check if the domain is hosted by them when you use gmail, I like to have my domains as google apps, buit I use my gmail account to have it all in.
