Techtites Vs The Digg Mafia – Who Won?

Yesterday evening a small war developed between the Digg Mafia who were determined to bury Ajay’s post ‘Why The Dig Mafia Will Cost Kevin Rose Milions‘, which had been submitted to Digg by Brajeshwar one of Digg’s top posters. Despite being submitted by Brajeshwar, the same Digg Mafia that Ajay discussed in his post tried every trick they knew to get the post buried.

However, Ajay and his supporters persevered and even though the Digg Mafia succeeding in burying the post, the post still received 274 diggs, which must be a record for a post that was buried once it hit around 15 diggs. (Albeit with some assistance from Reddit users).

What disappointed me the most was Digg’s role in the battle. Rather than acknowledging that the Digg Mafia who were clearly in the minority judging by the comments that were being left, were out of control, Digg didn’t re-instate the post despite several users emailing them to inform them of the actions of the Mafia.

In a way I’m glad that the post wasn’t re-instated, as although the Digg Mafia won this skirmish, I think Ajay and Techtites’ readers proved that Digg most certainly isn’t the the democratic system it claims to be.
