The number of MyBlogLog users has grown almost exponentially as more and more sites started adding its widgets, even though it wasn’t clear what benefit they offered other than looking cute. I removed mine a few weeks ago as I wanted to make my pages load quicker and the time to retrieve the avatars was one of the biggest culprits. I even turned off my own Latest Comments With Avatars Reloaded plugin as the MBL avatars were taking too long to load.
But, MyBlogLog now might have a bigger problem. It’s emerging that its widgets are tracking ALL traffic and clicks, including Adsense clicks which may be in breach of Google Adsense’s ToS.
MyBlogLog haven’t responded yet and I doubt that Google would ever ban the thousands of sites using MyBlogLog. But it could happen, so I thought I should put out this quick warning.
