MYBlogEarnings For February 2007
I’ve decided this month for the first time to post my blog earnings to hopefully encourage other bloggers to do so. If other bloggers follow suit then I will do this every month from now on. I hope that a few of you do participate as I don’t want to be the only blogger opening my Kimono!
The catalysts for doing this have been Thilak who has just disclosed his earnings for the first time, and John Chow who regularly posts his monthly blog income. After reading their posts I was stunned by how different their sources of income were to mine, and I’m hoping that by also disclosing my income and sources other bloggers will follow suit. This way we will all be able to assess which schemes are worth joining, or be able to see if another blog is making more money from a particular scheme, and hopefully be able to work out why.
Ok, here’s how I made money from blogging in February. My January numbers are in brackets:
- Google Adsense: $2,775.5 ($1,646.26)
- Text-Link-Ads: $319.37 ($249.60)
- Feedburner FAN: $240.77 ($148.87)
- Direct Ad Sales: $150.00 ($0)
- Vizu Polls: $118.96 ($133.26)
- ReviewMe (1 review): $125.00 ($0)
- Blogads: $100.42 ($80.66)
- Intellitxt: $75.82 ($0)
- Adbrite: $1.83 ($0)
- Grand Total: $3,907.67 ($2,258.65)
I’m very happy with my revenue performance as that’s almost £2k per month in English money. To put this number into perspective the average salary in the UK is around £29k or £2.4k per month.
I’m also very pleased with my rate of growth as my earnings in February were 73% higher than in January despite losing 3 days. If I go all the way back to October 2006 when I started taking blogging seriously my earnings were only $573.18. Obviously I don’t expect to see this rate of increase continuing, but a few more months would be nice
I’m 99% certain that I will pass £2.4K in March, or the average salary in the UK, which will be nice for an average of 2 hours work per day. My run-rate alone in the latter part of February should get me there, but definitely because of Intellitxt. In February I only had Intellitxt running for 4 days, and only properly for 1 day, so I’m hoping that in March it will become a more significant earner moving either into the number 2 or 3 slot.
The reason why I’m not sure if it will take the number 2 slot is because March is going to be a make or break month for Text-Link-Ads. The rate for my site was originally set at $40 and all 10 links sold immediately, so I asked them to bump me up to $60 and the same thing happened, and again when I asked for $80. After seeing John Chow’s success at $150 I thought I had nothing to lose so I asked for $150 as well, and thankfully it paid off as when two of my links expired last month they renewed within days for $150. I have about 3 or 4 of my legacy $40 links expiring in March so I’m hoping they will also go quickly at the new $150 rate.

Looking at Thilak’s and John Chow’s earnings there are other areas I’d like to work on in March:
- Thilak is making a killing from TribalFusion with $420.68 in February. Although, I can’t add them to my blog I would like to try TribalFusion (they won’t return my emails) in my forum where I only made a pitiful $1.8 from Adbrite
- Thiliak made less per review with ReviewMe, but more in total. I need to consider whether I should reduce my rates. However, I’m not keen on writing short reviews like Thilak does. In fact I probably went overboard with the review that I did, where I actually ended up trashing the service!
- Thilak is also making more from Feedburner than me even though I have more subscribers and I’m pretty certain I have more traffic as well, so I need to figure out what’s going ‘wrong’ with my Feedburner FAN account
- I managed to sell my first direct ad this month and I would love to do more like John Chow, where direct sales are his biggest income stream
- I’d also like to earn some referral income. So far I have made the grand sum of $25 from Text-Link-Ads but I’m focussing on signing up some of my blogging buddies to Intellitxt in March, now that you can run Intellitxt alongside Google Adsense
- Agloco starts in March and I’ve signed up nearly 100 people so it’ll be interesting to see if this brings in any cash
I hope that the amount of information I have shared here will encourage you to do the same (JohnTP will be posting his as we both agreed to do this over Google Talk earlier). You can do this by leaving a comment or a trackback to this post. An alternative way is to tag your post ‘MyBlogEarnings‘ so that your details can be found easily on Technorati.
The more info we share with each other, the more we will all hopefully make.

I’m placed under Computers. What about you?

I just had a look at your theme and I could tell you why if you submitted your site to Pimp My Blog!
I know I keep saying this theme is optimised for adsense but it really does work. My CTR has improved enourmously since I tweaked it and people using this theme have said they’ve seen 300% improvements overnight…

My Feedburner earnings are the same i.e. from the site and not the feed. Which category are you in? According to Feedburner they share the wealth proportionally according to your blog’s size in it’s category, so the only reason you should be making more than me is if you are in a better performing category.

Wow, you seem to be earning huge from Adsense. The best I made is like $100. As I have mentioned on Thilak’s blog, I seriously need to re-think over my ads revenue strategy.

Actually, I make from from on-site ads rather than feed with FAN. Feed brings a mere 25 - 30$ per month (which is surely unacceptable)
It’s quite fun to see fellow blog buddies start disclosing their earnings, we could compare results and figure out what we are really missing out. This opens up the scope for improvements.

I agree with Ajay, except I don’t make anything off of mine lol.

Amazing dude!
I get way to little to even bother mentioning on my blog…

Everton,
Thanks for the awesome report.. it’s pretty inspiring, to say the least!
I’ve always suspected that you’re earning a ton from Adsense.
