A Simple Hack to Boost your ReviewMe Sales

As you all probably know, ReviewMe is a blog-based advertising network that allows publishers to get paid for reviewing specific advertiser products or websites. This is a great way to make money online for anyone owning a blog and the most prominent example of a blogger who has literally made thousands of dollars from doing ReviewMe reviews is John Chow.

John recently disclosed his blog earnings for February 2007 and revealed that he made $2250 alone from ReviewMe, which is very impressive indeed.

While not everyone owns a blog that is as popular as John Chow’s, there are some ways to rapidly increase the amount of money you can earn from ReviewMe. I previously wrote about 12 Ways to Maximize your ReviewMe Affiliate Commissions and mentioned that promoting their affiliate program early on was a great way to maximize your commission earnings.

Now I’m going to give you one simple tip on how to improve your ReviewMe commissions by making your blog absolutely irresistible to potential advertisers.

Advertisers can be easily turned off by seeing the high review price on listed on your ReviewMe badge. Some however, might be tempted to click on the badge and they’ll be taken to your Review Me blog profile page, which just includes a couple of silly looking stars next to your Alexa, Technorati and RSS feed levels.

The page in question doesn’t mention anything specific about your blog’s potential in benefiting advertisers. This does nothing to convince Advertisers at all and is generally a terribly weak conversion strategy.

How to Make Advertisers Desire a Review from Your Blog

Here are the changes you should implement to improve your ReviewMe sales.

  1. Create a new page or blog post and list all the specific benefits of advertising on your website. Include information like detailed traffic stats, PR, page strength, linking options, review length and depth etc. ).
  2. Remember to include previous examples of ReviewMe reviews that you’ve done.
  3. Include an easy way for potential advertisers to contact you if they have any questions. (Also opens the door for private ad sales).
  4. Link your ReviewMe affiliate badge to the squeeze page or blog post that you’ve just made.
  5. When an advertiser clicks on your badge, they are taken to the page with all the explicit benefits listed.
  6. Voila! One very convinced and reassured advertiser that will very likely order a review from you.

This is a great pro-active way to promote your website and the best thing about this whole strategy is that you’ll only need to spend some initial time in doing up a squeeze page. After you’ve linked it to your badge, there’s pretty much nothing else to do.

Another benefit of having a squeeze page on your blog is that you can instantly refer to it when you need to reference ReviewMe. Instead of linking to ReviewMe, link to your promo page and you’ll get a higher chance of getting a sale.

This is very much similar to the strategy I implemented to successfully increase my Text Link Ads commissions over the past few months. The main objective of creating a separate promo page is to convince potential advertisers of the benefit that your blog will bring to them.

Try this hack on your blog and let me know if it works!

    Nice first post Maki!

I think I’m going to follow some of your advice and improve the structure of my advertising page so that it is clearer what my site metrics are and to also give better examples of campaigns that have been run in the past and also of the ReviewMe reviews I’ve done.
