JobFavors.com: Get Paid To Do Favours

I love reading about new services like JobFavors.com that attempt to either create new markets online or make existing markets more efficient.

The goal of JobFavors is to connect people who need a favour doing, with someone who’s willing to do it in return for a bit of green. The site is community based so you can search for people who live near you who are willing to pay to get something done.

According to founder Eric Iravani:

“Our goal is to connect people who are in need of favors with people who are in need of cash. It’s a mix between an odd jobs board with a touch of social networking for the good of local communities (hopefully a recipe for success)”.

I think this is a great idea but it’s going to be hard building up critical mass in small areas. The real power of the internet is in removing distance e.g. I’m writing this post in London and within seconds it can be read in New Dehli, New York or Bangkok.

Would you use a service like this? It could be a good way to make a bit of cash over the summer holidays if you’re a student.

You got their email or found it yourself?

When cash changes hands, it’s not a favor at all. Call it a job board but don’t use the word “favor”.

For trading favors, I use Zakle.com. It’s people helping people and no cash changes hands. It’s more altruistic that way.

Interesting, it’s amazing how many different ways people can monetize their site these days.
