‘Adult’ Spam Hits All-Time Low
I don’t clean out my spam folder so that I can see how quickly how bad the problem has been over the last 30 days. At the moment I have 16568 emails in my spam folder, that’s a whopping 552 a day.
According to a report from Symantec ‘Adult’ spam hit an all-time low in February with only 3 percent of emails classified as adult spam. That’s a shame as I really miss my daily email from Cindy asking to meet up…..The top spam categorires are health/general product ads (48%), financial services (21%), Internet services (15%) and phishing emails (8%).
I think spammers are some of the dumbest people on the planet. The returns they experience have to be astronomically low, even if they do send out millions of emails. To beat spam filters their messages have to include so much gibberish it’s impossible to work out what they are selling.

Your right on the point as to why they keep on bothering, they must be making some money out of it I guess, but these days, these emails are just treated as a joke and like you say for it actually get past filters, it ends up being complete rubbish to look at - surely there must be diminishing returns in it for spamming?

I have wondered about the spam where there are just random characters listed but the link goes to Google with the same random characters… what the hell is that?
